Basic 8 mansion
The 8 mansion is similar to the 8 aspiration. In addition, it requires knowledge of a person year of birth according to the Chinese Astrological calendar beginning with 4th/5th February of each year represent the coming of spring (Lup Choon). To calculate a person's KUA, for a male person before year 2000, use the last two digit of the year and add them up. The number is simplified into a single digit number. Then use 10 to minus from the simplified number to get your KUA. For eg Albert is born on 15th January 2000. As 15th January is before Lup Choon (4th February), therefore we must use the year 1999. As 9+9=18=9. Therefore, 10-9=1. Albert personal KUA is 1. In the next example we use a female, Adriana born on 2nd February 1978. Her date of birth is also before Lup Choon and therefore the year 1977 should be used. As 7+7=14=5, as Adriana is a female we should add 5 (for those born before 4th February 2000) to the simplified number which happens to be 5. Adriana's personal KUA is 5+5=10=1.
For male born after 4th February 2000, use 9 to minus from the simplified number. For female born after 4th February 2000, use 6 to add to the simplified number. For example Jackie Wong is a female born on 7th February 2001. To calculate her Kua we just add (1+6=7). Therefore, Jackie Wong is Kua 7. Jacky Cheong is a Male born on 5th August 2004. To calculate Jacky Cheong's personal Kua we just subtract ( 9-4=5). Therefore, Jacky Cheong's personal Kua is 2 (as there is no Kua 5, we have to substitute Kua 5 with Kua 2. Please note that there is actually no Kua 5. Therefore if you are a male and your Kua is 5, then substitute it with 2. If you happen to be a female then use Kua 8.
After getting the personal Kua number, we must find out whether it belongs to the West or East group. The East group consist of 1,3,4 and 9 while the West group consist of 2,5,6,7 and 8.

After knowing how to get your best and worst directions and locations, we can see an example of how it works.
Always sit in a favorable location facing your favorable direction. About 10 years ago, I was working in a company which recently had a change in the management. I was mistakenly seen as an ally to an enemy faction. The Group Accountant even openly asked me to find another job. He tried to find fault with me. That night I was still in my office trying to clear some back log when it suddenly occurred to me that I might be sitting in the wrong location and direction. I used a compass to check the direction of my table to be south. As my personal Kua is 8, looking at the above table, it is under Ho Hai, my 4th worst direction. All I did was to shift the table slightly to face South West, my best direction. Most people would have thought I accidently knock the table out of place. The next morning, when the group accountant called me, we have a shouting match on the phone. He immediately came down to see me, trying to put more pressure on me to leave. Some how it did not work. By the mid day, I heard from my staffs, he was asked to leave by the managing director. Just a minor shift in the direction we face can make or break a person. Never sit facing Cheuh Ming (Total Loss) as you might have the very worst of luck such as loss own life, loss of property, children and everything in your worst nightmare. Liu Sha (Six killing) is bad enough with court cases going against you, misfortune and sickness. Even Wu Kui (5 ghosts) will bring sickness and misfortune to you.
You have to make sure your door is facing a good direction (preferably located in a good location) . In Eight Mansions, the door facing direction is most important. Getting a good door facing direction is the first step to enhance your opportunities for wealth generation. Of course there are Fung Shui remedies for cases where it is impossible to face your good directions but that is the work of a Fung Shui expert not a novice.
It is possible to change your life. By using Fung Shui, you sit in your good locations and facing good directions. Do not face the Thai Sui (ie. Grand Duke Jupiter in year 2005 is in Rooster facing West). Therefore do not face West in 2005 eventhough it might be your good direction. Do not sit in 5 yellow which happens to be in North West in 2005. The Three Killings in year 2005 is in East (Big Three Killings), North East & South East (Small Three Killings). Those born in the Rabbit year should be extra careful.
